Our Story

Secure Testing Services, LLC was formed in July of 2015 one early morning in Richmond, VA.  With his son on the verge of starting college and another soon to be graduating from high school, Steve was looking for a small "side-gig" to support both of his children's college aspirations.  Steve answered an obscure online advertisement that was seeking a specimen collector for a national railway company with routes that included the Richmond, Virginia area.

The position entailed sitting at a train station for hours at a time twice a week, mostly in the middle of the night, performing FRA-regulated drug and alcohol testing.  During his downtime he wondered what the market was for this type of service.  Drawing on his background in sales and business development, those long hours in the middle of night turned into a great opportunity to perform due diligence on the industry, contact potential partners and perform competitive intelligence on who his competitors might be.

Steve then "reverse-engineered" a business plan based on the need in the market and STS was born. That business plan filled a void in the industry, and the rest as they say, is history.

In 2024, Secure Testing Services conducted on-site testing in 49 of 50 states and has grown to be a recognized leader in the industry.  Steve has spoken on numerous occasions to industry groups and is a respected leader in the on-site specimen collection industry.  Steve made the strategic decision to begin offering OSHA safety training in mid-2024, and with that the company transitioned in a “Total Compliance Solution” – providing everything a business needs to comply with federal regulations (OSHA, TPA Services, Lab/MRO).

From humble beginnings in 2015 to being an industry leader entering 2025, STS still holds dear to its’ roots and the company motto:
